Role Overview

As an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support the development of mechanical components and systems under the guidance of senior engineers. This is a hands-on, learning-focused role ideal for a graduate or early-career engineer looking to grow in the field of advanced maritime technology.

Responsibilities Will Include

• Assist in creating 2D and 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Support the team in developing and reviewing design documentation, specifications, and reports.
• Work with engineers to carry out basic design calculations and simulations under supervision.
• Participate in material selection processes, testing and prototype builds.
• Engage in peer reviews, team meetings, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date design records.
• Learn through hands-on experience, mentoring, and continuous feedback.
  
  

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or a completed modern apprenticeship would also be of interest.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Ability to communicate design ideas clearly through sketches and presentations.
• A proactive, curious mindset with a willingness to learn.
• Good understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• An interest in working in the maritime or defence sectors.
• Right to live and work in the UK.
  
  

Desirable (but Not Essential)

• Industrial placement or internship experience.
• Exposure to FEA, CFD or other engineering analysis tools.
• Familiarity with marine systems or regulated environments.
  
  

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum Existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with Security Check likely for specific projects.*
