We are looking for an enthusiastic problem solver with a scientific mindset to come and join our exciting Digital Programme. You should be ready to support the New Product Development (NPD) team by owning the testing and development of products and innovations. You will also support our Current Product Development (CPD) team, helping them to find solutions to improve existing products.
As a professional and proactive member of our team, with an attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously you will be able to analyse and make considered and clear evidence-based recommendations to the team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic problem solver with a scientific mindset to come and join our exciting Digital Programme. You should be ready to support the New Product Development (NPD) team by owning the testing and development of products and innovations. You will also support our Current Product Development (CPD) team, helping them to find solutions to improve existing products.
As a professional and proactive member of our team, with an attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously you will be able to analyse and make considered and clear evidence-based recommendations to the team.
In this hands-on role, you will:
- Support the development and testing of new concepts/products using both novel and iterative development approaches, whilst being autonomous in making design changes to seek optimum product performance.
- Collaborate with NPD and CPD teams by testing products and components to industry and company standards, analyse and interpret the results and write formal test reports to document the outcome, providing observations and recommendations for next steps.
- Proactively support the design teams to define testing requirements and timelines to achieve ‘on time’ engineering delivery.
- Contribute towards the development and documentation of new tests methods and equipment to ensure our products are proven to be class leading in performance and reliability.
- Ensure test procedures are adhered to, and that all documentation is completed with test results accurately recorded.
- Keep up to date with test standards and offer guidance on requirements to engineers.
- Be confident to demonstrate products to key stakeholders.
- Take responsibility in mentoring engineers in the appropriate product testing.
- Be an active and engaged member of the Digital team (and wider engineering team), bringing your insights to team meetings and innovation sessions.
- Be an advocate for and demonstrate 5S and H&S principles within the lab team and associated areas.
- Support continuous improvement within the lab and support wider business activities, e.g. early career programmes, stewardship etc.
- The role may occasionally require visits to customers sites to understand the systems which we are looking to replicate within the lab environment.
- An Engineer, with a mechanical bias, who has gained experience through either an apprenticeship or higher education.
- A team player with a positive attitude who is excited to work collaboratively.
- Naturally inquisitive with a scientific mind which they can apply to solve an engineering problem.
- Initiative-taking, proactive and results driven.
- A clear communicator who can translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand language.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple priorities with support.
- A willingness to learn with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to use MS Excel to interrogate and present data.
- Basic 3D/2D CAD (Computer Aided Design), preferably Creo Parametric.
