As Assistant Production Manager at The Halls, University of Wolverhampton, you'll work alongside the Production Manager to deliver seamless technical production across both our stunning performance spaces. From load-in to load-out, you'll play a hands-on role in ensuring every show is safely delivered to the highest standard.

What You'll Be Doing
Technical Event Delivery
- Support and, when required, lead on all technical aspects of events—from pre-production and advancing to live show delivery
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with lighting, sound, staging, and rigging during events
- Ensure all stage and backstage areas are clean, safe, and show-ready
- Coordinate show stop briefings, and liaise directly with artists, tour managers and promoter reps
- Manage load-ins and load-outs, keeping disruption and noise to a minimum and prepping the space for the next show
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain up-to-date technical specs and event files, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations
- Carry out and support risk assessments and maintain compliance documentation (LOLER, PUWER, PAT testing)
- Operate the venue's rigging controller and mothergrid, ensuring safe loads and proper diagnostics
- Oversee preventative maintenance, equipment servicing and assist with upgrades or new installations
Team & Logistics Coordination
- Book and manage crew, riggers, flymen, and technical contractors as required for each event
- Track and communicate technical event costs for settlements
- Help train and mentor freelance and new crew members, ensuring adherence to venue policies and best practices
- Foster strong working relationships with internal departments, security, touring productions, and external partners
What You'll Bring
- Demonstrable experience in a technical production role in live music, theatre, or entertainment venues
- Strong knowledge of audio, lighting, video, SFX, staging, rigging systems, and power distribution
- Experience managing Health & Safety compliance, with an IOSH qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Familiarity with technical maintenance schedules, compliance reporting, and risk management
- Skilled in managing production budgets and show costs
- Confident using Microsoft Office and digital platforms for documentation and coordination
- Calm under pressure, collaborative, and passionate about delivering world-class live events

Where: You'll be based at the venue in Wolverhampton. This role requires you to work 5 days out of 7, including working evenings and weekends at events.
