In a nutshell


As our Airport Manager in Edinburgh, you will lead a world class, efficient and identifiable Virgin Atlantic airport experience ensuring the safety and security of our customers, staff and equipment at the heart of everything we do.


You’ll be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality customer experience as the primary objective of the airport team. Responsible for achieving objectives within the agreed financial constraints and representing Virgin Atlantic with local authorities, regulators and service providers. Accountability and ownership are a major function of this position supported by your successful delivery of critical metrics and financial performance.


Day to day


This is a fantastic role as you'll get the opportunity to interact with colleagues at all levels within Virgin Atlantic, including the Operations Control Centre and third-party suppliers. Other responsibilities include:


  • Establish and manage productive relationships with all suppliers and official bodies who are interacting with VAA's airport operation, to ensure they deliver on behalf of our customers and the business.
  • Delivery of superior customer service by acting as an ambassador and role model for Virgin Atlantic in Edinburgh, ensuring a differentiated and 'Red on the Outside' customer experience.
  • Leading teams in irregular flight operations (IROP), along with participating and designing comprehensive and effective contingency plans for safety, security and emergency procedures.
  • Working with our key partners to not only deliver but exceed the agreed metrics in SLA's, corporate service standards, and revenue generation targets.
  • Manage our people fairly and consistently, in line with VAA guidelines to deliver a high-performance culture where people love to work and are engaged.
  • Overall budgetary responsibility for the Airport inclusive of continual efforts to drive efficiency whilst providing a high level of service.
  • Deliver a differentiated and identifiably Virgin Atlantic customer experience.
  • Ensure a safe secure, procedurally compliant and robust operation.


About you


Do you have proven Airport and Airline Operations leadership experience in a fast-paced airport environment? Do you have an understanding of local safety, regulatory and government policies and regulations with a focus on compliance and accountability? Then this could be the role for you! We are also looking for the following:


  • Proven track record of decision-making and proactive change management, evidenced by relevant management experience in a customer and operational focused environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team, comprised of both internal and external resources.
  • Excellent problem-solving capability with a flair for collaboration and teamwork
  • Able to quickly and competently analyse data and affect operational and strategic action plans.
  • Proven experience of budget forecasting and invoice management, alongside a broad commercial awareness in an Airport and Airline environment.
  • Ability to work in a constantly evolving customer driven environment and prepared to work unsocial hours and be flexible.
