AI Business Lead

Syneos Health Communications

Date: 4 hours ago
City: London
Contract type: Full time
Description

We are seeking an AI Business Director to lead the practical and strategic integration of artificial intelligence across our healthcare communications portfolio.

This is a hybrid role — equal parts trusted client partner and innovation catalyst. You’ll help existing clients apply AI responsibly and effectively within their current ways of working, while also guiding the agency and our more progressive partners toward transformative new approaches.

You will be both translator and trailblazer — ensuring AI enhances creativity, insight, and efficiency for all types of clients, from cautious adopters to digital pioneers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Partnership and Business Development (≈50%)
  • Serve as a senior AI advisor across client portfolios, helping teams identify where AI adds practical, immediate value — e.g. workflow optimization, content automation, or improved data analysis.
  • Support client teams in regulated and risk-sensitive settings to ensure compliant, ethical, and explainable AI use.
  • Partner with account and strategy leads to embed AI into existing scopes of work without disrupting established processes.
  • Lead client education and enablement sessions to build confidence in AI’s potential.
  • Translate complex technology into actionable and credible business solutions for marketing, med comms, and creative teams.
  • Innovation, Growth, and Capability Building (≈50%)
  • Shape and evolve the agency’s AI vision, ensuring it aligns with long-term commercial goals.
  • Identify and develop new AI-enabled services, products, or efficiencies that strengthen our competitive advantage.
  • Pilot and scale AI tools that enhance creative ideation, medical storytelling, content personalization, and analytics.
  • Champion responsible innovation — balancing experimentation with governance and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with leadership to drive agency-wide AI literacy, training, and best-practice frameworks.

Required Experience And Skills

  • Strong experience in healthcare communications, innovation, or digital transformation — ideally within an agency environment.
  • Demonstrable experience applying AI or automation solutions to real-world marketing, creative, or operational challenges.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex ideas in a way that engages non-technical and risk-averse stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare regulatory landscape (e.g. data privacy, medical accuracy, content approval workflows).
  • Commercially savvy — able to identify and quantify business impact from AI initiatives.
  • Comfortable operating at multiple speeds: delivering incremental value for today’s clients while steering toward tomorrow’s opportunities.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills; confident leading workshops and client conversations.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience introducing AI to traditional or compliance-heavy organizations.
  • Familiarity with GenAI creative tools, data insight platforms, and workflow automation systems.
  • Track record of building cross-functional consensus and change adoption.
  • Curiosity, empathy, and resilience — able to inspire confidence in both innovators and skeptics alike.

Success in This Role Means

  • AI capabilities are embedded within everyday client workstreams, not siloed as “innovation projects.”
  • Clients view the agency as a trusted partner for practical progress as much as a leader in innovation.
  • Internal teams feel equipped and inspired to use AI responsibly.
  • The agency delivers measurable efficiency gains and new service growth through AI integration.
