Help shape the next generation of Army recovery mechanics

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Recovery Mechanic at our Catterick site, near Richmond, North Yorkshire.

Ready to take your career in a new direction? At Babcock, we value the deep expertise that comes from hands-on experience and we offer a unique opportunity to channel that knowledge into a rewarding new path. As an Apprenticeship Coach specialising in recovery mechanics, you’ll step away from the tools and into a coaching role where you’ll shape the next generation of Army vehicle recovery specialists, using your practical experience to coach, guide, and assess learners in real-world fault diagnosis, repair, and recovery operations. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact while growing your own career, this could be the perfect next step.

Day to day, you’ll be required to:
Visit apprentices in their workplace to deliver practical coaching on recovery and mechanical tasks
Support learners to build skills in fault diagnosis, repair and vehicle recovery operations
Assess performance and recording progress against apprenticeship standards
Provide clear feedback, guidance and ongoing support to help learners succeed
Work with Army units and training teams to ensure quality, compliance and development outcomes

Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.

The role is regional, covering sites across the North of England and Scotland, with a 37 hour working week, Monday to Friday. Regular travel to Babcock and customer locations will be required, alongside flexible and home working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Recovery Mechanic:
Demonstrate mechanical or vehicle maintenance experience such as recovery, heavy vehicles or plant
Show experience in operational or technical environments, ideally within a military setting
Manage your own workload across multiple locations with strong organisational skills
Communicate effectively to coach and support learners of varying abilities
Apply practical knowledge to real world engineering challenges

Qualifications for the Recovery Mechanic:
GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or above, or equivalent
Relevant Level 3 qualification in vehicle mechanics or a related discipline
