Windsor Forest Colleges Group is looking for a Lecturer in Engineering to join the Apprenticeships team at Slough & Langley College for one day a week.
This temporary, part-time (0.2 FTE) position has an actual salary ranging from £6,326.60 (T1) to £9,068.20 (T11), depending on qualifications and experience. The full time equivalent salary for this scale is £31,633 (T1) to £45,341 (T11).
Please note the fixed term end date for this role is Thursday the 16th of July 2026.
Lecturer – Engineering (0.2)
As a Lecturer in Engineering, you will join our Ofsted-rated 'Good' Colleges Group, delivering the City & Guilds 4515 Technical Certificate to Level 3 Engineering Fitter and Level 3 Mechatronics apprentices. You will help learners develop the theoretical knowledge and practical engineering competence required to succeed in their apprenticeship and prepare for Gateway and End-Point Assessment.
You will plan and deliver engaging theoretical and practical lessons for dedicated first-year apprenticeship cohorts, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports learner progress and achievement.
Working within our engineering workshops, you will promote and maintain high standards of health and safety while supervising the safe use of lathes, milling machines, pillar drills, grinding equipment, hand and power tools, welding equipment and electrical testing equipment.
You will use formative assessment to monitor learners' practical competence, identify gaps in knowledge and understanding, provide timely feedback and support apprentices to develop the skills and confidence required to achieve their qualification. You will also challenge and stretch high performing learners, contributing to the delivery of high quality technical education.
We are looking for someone who holds a Level 3 or above qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or General Engineering, together with significant industrial engineering experience and current knowledge of engineering processes and practices. You should be confident teaching both theoretical and practical engineering principles and hold GCSEs, or equivalent qualifications, in English, Mathematics and Science at Grade C/4 or above.
A teaching qualification such as a PGCE, Cert Ed or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, together with assessor or IQA qualifications, or experience of delivering the City & Guilds 4515 Technical Certificate or equivalent engineering qualifications, would be advantageous.
