Learning & Development Apprentice

Location: Maidenhead, 2 days a week in the office (Tue & Wed), 3 from home
Contract Type: 24 Months Fixed Term Contract
Salary: £26,722 per annum
Hours: Full Time Mon – Fri

We’re looking for a Learning & Development Apprentice to join our People team - someone curious, thoughtful, and naturally people-focused, who’s excited by the idea of helping others grow.

This isn’t just an admin apprenticeship. You’ll be at the heart of how we design and deliver learning across a global organisation, giving you exposure to different cultures, teams and ways of working, all while building an impressive CV.

If you’re the kind of person who enjoys bringing ideas to life, communicating in a meaningful way, and making a big difference, this could be the perfect role for you.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll support our Learning & Development team in creating engaging learning experiences. That could mean designing digital content using tools like PowerPoint, Canva or video platforms, helping deliver training sessions (both virtual and face-to-face), and working with colleagues across the organisation to understand what great learning looks like for them.

Alongside this, you’ll get stuck into the behind-the-scenes side of L&D; managing our Learning Management System, analysing feedback and data to improve programmes, and supporting projects from idea through to evaluation. You’ll be trusted to take ownership, bring ideas, and make a real contribution from day one.

Alongside this, you’ll complete your apprenticeship, combining hands-on experience with learning through both CWGC and the training provider, Ginger Nut.

What You Need To Have

’You don’t need formal teaching experience, but you should enjoy helping others learn in any capacity. Likewise, this apprenticeship is intended for individuals beginning their career in learning and development, rather than those who already have extensive experience in the field.

  • Strong customer service mindset, with the ability to build positive, professional relationships
  • Highly organised, able to manage tasks, priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to ask questions and find better ways of doing things
  • Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team, while also being confident working independently and taking ownership
  • Confident using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with an interest or experience in creative tools such as Canva or video editing software

Who We Are

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is an organisation dedicated to honouring and caring for the graves and memorials of servicemembers who died in the two World Wars. The work of the commission is not only out on the field, but in our head office too, which contributes to the meaningful commemoration of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

What We Offer

  • A recognised Level 3 apprenticeship qualification
  • Hands-on experience in a global organisation
  • 25 days annual leave, rising by 1 day per year of service up to a maximum of 30
  • Paid public holidays, half day on Maundy Thursday, and paid time off between Christmas and New Year
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Generous Pension Scheme, with CWGC contributing up to 10%
  • Life Assurance
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Shopping discounts
