We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and self-motivated individual to our Creative & Performing Arts department, who has a genuine passion for the subject and excellent subject knowledge.

The successful candidate will have experience planning, delivering and managing Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC Games or Media qualifications and be confident working with FE students of varying abilities and from a wide range of backgrounds. There may also be opportunities to contribute to the delivery of Higher Education (HE) Games programmes, depending on experience and departmental requirements.

The successful candidate will have high expectations of both academic achievement and student engagement and will be committed to supporting learners to achieve their full potential. They will be highly effective at monitoring student progress, providing timely feedback and guidance, and ensuring learners remain engaged and successful throughout their course programme.

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to Level 6 (Degree) or equivalent professional experience in Games Development, Games Art, Games Design, Computer Games Technology, Digital Media or a related discipline.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and engage learners from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Current knowledge and understanding of contemporary games development and/or games art production pipelines.
  • Experience using industry-standard software such as Unreal Engine 5, Autodesk 3ds Max and/or Maya, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Adobe Creative Cloud, and familiarity with version control tools (e.g. Git or Perforce).
  • Understanding of real-time content creation workflows, optimisation techniques and asset pipelines.
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support, challenge and inspire students to achieve high standards.
  • Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, employers and external industry partners.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding within education.
  • Ability to effectively integrate digital technologies and appropriate AI-assisted tools into teaching and learning while promoting ethical and responsible use.

Desirable Criteria

  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
  • Relevant professional experience within the games industry.
  • Experience teaching on Further Education and/or Higher Education programmes.
  • Experience planning, delivering and assessing Games Development and/or Games Art curricula.
  • Experience supervising student projects and portfolio development.
  • Experience using Unreal Engine Blueprints
  • Experience developing employer-led projects, live briefs or industry collaborations.
  • Awareness of current trends within the UK and international games industry, including emerging technologies and AI-assisted content creation.
