We have an exciting opportunity at our Nicholls campus to join our ESOL Department as an ESOL Teacher on a fixed-term (until July 2027), full-time (35 hours per week) basis.

Located just outside the vibrant city centre, Nicholls Campus offers a welcoming, community-focused environment with excellent facilities. Specialising in Access to HE, ESOL, and a range of adult courses, it’s a centre designed to help learners of all backgrounds achieve their goals. Who are TMC?

The Manchester College is the Largest Further Education College in the United Kingdom and has the largest provisions for 16-19yrs olds, adults, and higher education in Greater Manchester. We are part of the LTE group that consist of MOL, Total People, UCEN Manchester, Novus, and LTE Group Operations. We welcome applications from aspiring teachers who are passionate about sharing their industry skills. At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post 16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3-4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £30,750 – £32,931*. It’s a great way to kick-start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you’ve successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you’ll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding.

*Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances*.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate of education or PGCE.
  • Current and valid industry specialism.
  • Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation).
  • Minimum Level 3 occupational qualification.
  • English and maths minimum level 2 Grace C or grade 4 and above.
  • Significant Experience of delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Proven track record of high-quality teaching in delivering subject specialism or current valid industry specialism.
  • Working as a team.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Meet delivery targets and plans.
  • Accurate and timely reports and records.
  • Positive contribution to planning processes.
