Domestic Abuse Practitioner

The Domestic Abuse Practitioner will provide a high quality specialist domestic abuse service across the Trust, supporting patients, carers, visitors and staff.

The postholder will work within the corporate Safeguarding Team, delivering expert advice, coordinating responses to domestic abuse, and ensuring robust risk assessment and safety planning.

  • Provide specialist domestic abuse advice, support, and education to multi professional teams.
  • Enable safe, appropriate and trauma informed responses to victims of domestic abuse.
  • Empower patients to seek support and understand their options in relation to domestic abuse
  • Support staff in completing high quality DASH risk assessments and ensure Trust representation at MARAC.
  • Work closely with the wider safeguarding team to include Adult Safeguarding, Midwifery, Children & Young People Safeguarding, Learning Disability and mental health leads.
  • Liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure coordinated support and advocacy for victims.
  • Participate in multi agency safeguarding meetings, including MARAC, as required.
  • Deliver training to frontline staff on recognising and responding to domestic abuse.
  • Contribute to Trust wide safeguarding education programmes. Support the implementation of domestic abuse pathways, policies, and Trust wide initiatives.
  • Work within national and local safeguarding legislation, policies, and evidence based practice frameworks.
  • Support monitoring and compliance with the Trust Domestic Abuse and Sexual Safety policies.
  • Assist in quality improvement, audit and service development initiatives.
