Medical Laboratory Assistant

Working Days: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours over 5 days between Monday and Saturday 

Salary: Up to £28,000pa depending on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for a trainee biomedical scientist to join our cellular pathology team.

You will have an IBMS approved degree to enable progression on the IBMS registration portfolio.

You will undertake training in the cellular pathology department and will become competent in all permissible parts of the role as expected of trainee BMS staff. 

Trainee BMS staff will be mentored through the registration portfolio.  You will have a named mentor, but training will be delivered by the team.  Portfolio time and targets will be set, and you will be expected to meet the targets which will enable efficient completion of the portfolio.

In addition to completing the objectives/portfolio you will also learn about UKAS accreditation and the requirements of laboratories to meet and exceed these standards.  You will participate in the laboratory maintenance of UKAS standards.

You must be self-motivated, focussed, realistic, willing to learn, a team player, good communicator, and show excellent standards of behaviour towards all SBS staff and respectful working relationships with colleagues and line managers.
