Junior Laboratory Analyst

Please note this is a full time role working rotating shift pattern of Monday-Friday and Tuesday - Saturday on either 06:00 - 14:00 or 10:00-18:00 shifts.  Staff will also be required to cover bank holidays on a rota basis.  Flexibility in working hours and overtime will be required to be worked at short notice during peak business demands during the week and at the weekend.

Training hours will be Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:00 or 09:00 - 17:00

.We are seeking a junior analyst to work within our fast-paced water microbiology department, the main duties for this role will include:

• Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis. 
• Sample preparation in line with company protocols. 
• Microbiological analysis of water samples. 
• Training and operation of relevant equipment. 
• General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination. 
• Accurate Data entry into laboratory database. 
• Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system
• Report any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory Supervisor. 
• Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory. 

• A level in a science related subject (preferably Biology)
• GCSE English and Mathematics and Science or equivalent
• Computer literate with experience of MS Office applications (in particular Excel)
• Comfortable working in a busy environment
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
