At Octopus, we’re entrepreneurs and we’re investors, on a mission to back the people, ideas and industries that will change the world.

We think working here is great, but we’re understandably bias. Click here to explore Life at Octopus.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll work collaboratively and represent one of the biggest and most exciting investment teams on the AIM market and within UK Small Cap, you’ll do this across our suite of products including AIM VCT, IHT and more, giving you exposure and variety.

This is a new role that you will have a chance to shape, we have an entrepreneurial spirit and value people who aren’t afraid to challenge the way we do things. The growth aspirations of not only the retail fundraising teams and quoted team, but Octopus Investments make this an ideal time to join.

The team:

Sat in a 100 strong sales and customer team, you’ll report into Tim Dickens, whilst working collaboratively with our Distribution Director and representing our award-winning Quoted Companies team, led by Richard Power. We’re passionate about what we do, we have fun and believe in collaboration, customer obsession and delivery.

What will you be doing?

The Investment Specialist role is a sales-orientated role, representing the investment team internally to our retail distribution team and engaging with the external market (IFAs) to represent and promote the AIM and UK Smaller Companies investment capabilities and products.

  • Be the de-facto resource used by sales and business development colleagues as a portfolio management proxy and serve as the main investment contact for distribution and clients/prospects, predominantly IFA’s but extending into other client types and sectors.
  • Become a subject-matter expert in the AIM and UK smaller company investment capabilities and product offerings, championing our investment capabilities, as well as existing and new products, both internally to colleagues and externally to the market. Always with the customers best interests at heart.
  • Regularly inform and update the sales and customer team on investment strategies, portfolios and performance and collaborate to get meaningful client feedback to support further product and client solution development.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience of working in an equity investment house (ideally in an investment role)
  • Deep investment knowledge and a thorough understanding of portfolio management and investment processes, including a sound understanding of what it takes to make good smaller company investments
  • Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory environment, retail requirements and product compliance
  • An understanding of the retail marketplace/knowledge of the IFA market and processes would be an advantage.

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. What’s the worst that can happen?

This role will evolve as we grow and develop. So, if you are looking for a challenge in a fast paced and dynamic business, we can deliver on that.
