Grid Analyst / Junior Grid Analyst – Renewable Energy (BESS and Solar) Location: Swindon The Organisation Our client is the UK Development arm of a global renewable investment manager. The business manages solar, battery storage and grid stability projects across the UK funded by investment. The team comprises a group of industry professionals with many years of complimentary experience across the renewable power delivery sector from development, delivery and subsequent operation of renewable energy assets. The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grid Analyst to work on the development of major renewable energy schemes (solar and BESS) from initial conception and design through to planning, land acquisition and commencement of construction. They are the UK Development arm of one of the most exciting and agile Infrastructure Funds in the international Energy Transition space. The fund has recently won awards for its fundraising ability, so this gives you a distinct advantage due to their ability to fund both organic development and project M&A. There focus is PV & Storage with projects up to 300MW+ in size. They are currently building out X2 300MW + projects and the plan is to become an IPP. Duties Position Overview: As a Junior Grid Analyst specializing in solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to develop and optimize renewable energy solutions. You will work closely with our experienced team to analyse grid integration strategies, assess project feasibility, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about renewable energy and eager to contribute to a dynamic and rapidly growing industry. Key Responsibilities: comprehensive analyses of grid connection options for solar and BESS projects, considering technical, economic, and regulatory factors. in the development of grid integration strategies to maximize the value and efficiency of renewable energy assets. with internal teams to evaluate site suitability, assess project feasibility, and identify potential risks and opportunities. the preparation of grid connection applications, regulatory filings, and permits, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. advanced software tools and modelling techniques to simulate grid interactions, forecast energy generation, and optimize system performance. grid-related developments, policy changes, and market trends to inform project planning and decision-making processes. in the coordination of grid studies, technical assessments, and interconnection negotiations with grid operators and stakeholders. technical support and expertise to project development, engineering, and operations teams as needed. Your Preferred Experience and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, renewable energy, electrical engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Experience working for a DNO or utility provider. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions. Familiarity with grid infrastructure, electrical systems, and renewable energy technologies, solar photovoltaics and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Knowledge of grid connection processes, network codes, and regulatory frameworks governing renewable energy projects in the UK. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts effectively to diverse stakeholders. Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and quality in work deliverables. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
