Engagement Support Coordinator

The National Autistic Society
Full time Full day
Glasgow

Who we are:

The National Autistic Society is the UK’s leading charity for autistic people. Since 1962, we’ve been transforming lives, changing attitudes and helping to create a society that works for autistic adults and children.

We transform lives by providing support, guidance and practical advice for the 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK, as well as their three million family members and carers. Autistic people turn to us at key moments or challenging times in their lives, be it getting a diagnosis, going to school or finding work.

We change attitudes by improving public understanding of autism and the difficulties many autistic people face. We also work closely with businesses, local authorities and government to help them provide more autism-friendly spaces, deliver better services and improve laws.

We have come a long way but it is not good enough. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for people on the spectrum. With your help, we can make it happen.

Who we are looking for:

CashBack for Communities is a unique Scottish Government programme which reinvests criminal assets recovered through the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) to expand young people’s horizons and increase the opportunities they have to develop their interests and skills. The National Autistic Society Scotland require a suitably skilled individual to join our Moving Forward+ with CashBack team.

We are excited to be recruiting a team member to join a dynamic and fast-paced team who is passionate about improving the lives of young autistic people. The programme has proven very successful in re-engaging young people in education or seeking alternative opportunities, so you can look forward to joining a strong, well-established team who maintains a high profile in the communities we are targeting and with referral agencies.

The programme’s innovative and person-centred approach bridges a gap for those who struggle to engage in education and are faced with adverse life conditions i.e. socio-economical disadvantage and trauma. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the issues facing autistic young people and will be passionate about supporting them to achieve their full potential. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to help us change the lives of autistic young people!

Where you will be working:

Location: Hybrid working between NAS Scotland’s Glasgow office and home, plus regular travel within Glasgow City and North Lanarkshire.
