Newport City Council are recruiting a Triage Coordinator to support the delivery of the Communities for Work Plus, Work & Skills project. We’re looking for experienced candidates or a person with transferrable skills, who can work with long term unemployed, economically inactive and people with complex barriers to work. We want them to be the first point with Newport City Council, where they assess the needs of the individual so we can offer support to eliminate barriers, improve skills, qualifications and assist them to secure sustainable employment.



The roles will entail the following tasks: -






  • Contacting referrals by phone, text, email, and post to engage with them and inform them of the services available.

  • Conduct initial appointments and diagnostic assessments to determine the most appropriate support from our Work and Skills projects.

  • Liaising with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders so participant can receive the correct intervention.

  • Regular checking of case notes and client documents, and records to ensure compliance.

  • Providing support to Mentors by arranging and organising a range of training and qualifications.

  • Tracking of distance travelled and progress towards operational outcomes.

  • Working within a team and with partner organisations to ensure that participants receive excellent employment and learning support.

  • Managing a small caseload of up to 20 participants, ensuring that all administration, quality, compliance, and performance targets are consistently achieved.

  • Offer advice and guidance and employment support including CV writing, interview skills, careers advice and job searching.

  • To provide administrative support and assistance to the delivery team daily.
