Nissan is driving the pace of electrification within the global automotive industry and the exhilarating shift to new models, manufacturing approaches and technology is being felt in every area of the business.  UK Finance plays a pivotal role in this evolution, looking after accounts for all UK entities, encompassing our Nissan Technical Centre, Design Centre and world-leading manufacturing plant in Sunderland. 


A key member of the NMUK Financial Reporting & Governance team, you will lead delivery of internal and external reporting, as well as managing corporate governance, company secretarial and statutory audit.  You will liaise daily with a range of stakeholders, including EU/Japanese counterparts and management teams across functions such as Engineering, Operations and R&D.

Your Key Responsibilities



  • Financial accounting duties for all UK entities including preparation of statutory accounts and timely submission of actual results, business plans and forecasts

  • Managing a team and workload to deliver internal and external reporting to required deadlines, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and group policies/procedures at all times

  • Managing the quarterly external audit process

  • Supporting UK board executives and Company Secretary in leading Corporate Governance for Nissan in the UK, including preparation for board and committee meetings and relevant filings to regulatory bodies

  • Balance sheet management and control for the Nissan Sunderland manufacturing entity


  • Supporting business innovation and development cycles through the provision of sound financial data and advice to project stakeholders, interfacing with key business contacts across all functions and levels of the business

  • Driving continued improvement, standardisation and automation of reporting and processes and supporting in systems implementations

Your Skills, Background and Experience



  • You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 3 year post qualification experience (qualifications perhaps gained within one of the big four accountancy firms)

  • A customer-focused mindset is key for building internal relationships through successful service delivery, all while balancing a fast-paced portfolio of multiple projects and routine work

  • Experienced at people management, you will enjoy creating a supportive, open culture in your team through effective daily management and a positive, energetic attitude

  • You will be equally happy managing up as well as down, using your sensitive yet convincing personality in managing expectations of senior stakeholders

  • You will be comfortable challenging opinion and researching and presenting data to support your thinking

  • You should be experienced at managing external audits

  • Your articulate and confident manner make you a natural communicator, able to present data in a clear and structured way for your varying audiences

  • A proactive and inquisitive nature will naturally lead you to strive for continuous improvement in all you do, further building on the outstanding reputation of Finance within the business 

  • You will have strong spreadsheet (Excel) and Powerpoint skills. SAP proficiency would be advantageous.
