We are looking for a motivated and experienced midwife to join the practice education and development team. The role of the practice educator midwife is to improve clinical outcomes for women/birthing people through reduction of OASI and PPH rates in the Department.



In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team the post holder will lead on implementing strategies to reduce OASI and PPH rates. They will be a role model for others, providing supportive leadership and expert advice to midwifery and obstetric teams.



The midwife will lead on a pathway for women/birthing people that includes antenatal counselling and postnatal follow up for history of OASI.



The midwife will be responsible for providing clinical expertise in the practice areas and on study days and midwifery leadership as part of the education team.



Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, Obstetric and Midwifery Clinical Leads, lead on developing the clinical strategy focused on improving clinical outcomes in OASI and PPH rates



Ensure all local and national evidence/guidance is assessed, benchmarked and implemented locally. Use initiative to decide relevant actions and make practice recommendations based on sound clinical evidence



Produce monthly update reports on progress against key objectives and audit clinical practice on OASI/PPH reduction techniques as necessary.



Management of the reporting of OASI and PPH

Working with key stakeholders and using quality improvement techniques, lead on the delivery of the clinical strategy within all clinical areas demonstrating excellent personal communication



Provide expert clinical advice to all staff and ensure opportunities for learning and sharing of best practice



To work in collaboration with the maternity team to develop and monitor performance, clinical outcomes to help improve and develop high standards of care for women. To place the woman’s experience at the core of service delivery.



To monitor and audit the quality of care through a range of strategies, including risk management incident reporting, complaints, research and effectiveness monitoring and clinical audit.



Management of the reporting of OASI and PPH



Provide supportive leadership and education to midwives and doctors on PPH/OASI reduction techniques



To bridge the theory/practice gap, through development of critical thinking and research development



To work as part of the practice development team to deliver multi-disciplinary training.



Ensure that teaching is evaluated and monitored



To develop own skills, taking responsibility for continuing professional development and performance.



The post holder will contribute to work in clinical areas to maintain confidence and credibility in midwifery practice
