The School/role:


We are working with an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ Alternative Provision school based in Walsall that are seeking a passionate and resilient behaviour support assistant to join their team. The school are committed to offering a second chance to students who may not thrive in mainstream education.


As a behaviour support assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting a specific student with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) in Year 9 that has Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Your responsibilities will include providing personalised assistance, fostering a supportive learning environment, and helping students overcome challenges they may face related to SEMH needs such as anxiety, behavioural difficulties, and social interaction.

Requirements:



  • Qualified Teaching Assistant OR Relevant SEN Background



  • PECS and Makaton training/experience



  • ASD, SEMH, Non-verbal, PMLD, MLD, visual impairment needs experience



  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate



  • Recent school based references



  • Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport



  • Full DBS – on the update service
