Senior Physiotherapist Neurosciences

We can offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Physiotherapist to join our Neurosciences Team. You will have the opportunity to work with a range of neurological conditions within Neurosurgical, Neurology and Neuro-oncology specialities, including Trauma, spinal cord injury, elective surgery and Guillain Barre Syndrome.

As we are a Major Trauma Centre and specialist Neurosciences Unit, you will experience working with critical care step down and tracheostomy weaning and be exposed to conditions that would only come to a specialist centre.

This opportunity is open to Band 6 Physiotherapists who are now ready to specialise further in their career and develop leadership skills.

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse medical, neurological and musculoskeletal presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working unsupervised. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available if required.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous Practitioner.

To undertake delegated management roles in support of the Clinical Team.

To supervise, educate and assess the performance of Physiotherapy students, this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with Universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

To undertake evidence-based practice, audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice within each rotation. Make recommendations to clinical lead for changes to practice by the team. May lead implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.

To maintain Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapy competency in order to participate in the out of hours’ respiratory on-call Physiotherapy Service and to assist in the training of junior members of staff to a level of agreed competency.
