The Radiotherapy department are looking for a dynamic and forward thinking radiographer for the role of Gynaecological advanced practitioner on a fixed term basis.  


The UHS radiotherapy department is equipped with 7 Elekta Versa HD linacs, 3 combining ExacTrac Dynamic and iGuide systems and 4 with VisionRT surface guidance, an HDR brachytherapy unit, XStrahl orthovoltage unit and a Mobetron intra-operative radiotherapy unit.  The pre-treatment area consists of  3 CT scanners across 2 sites (Southampton and Basingstoke), 2 of which have contrast injection pumps, as well as Elekta's Active Breathing Co-ordinator and Varian's RGSC.
We are looking for a Therapeutic Radiographer with special interest in the Gynaecological pathway to continue to drive the service forward, and deliver a world-class service to our patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

•    To act as a clinical expert in the Radiotherapy treatment of Gynaecological patients, supporting service and technique development for this patient group.
•    To work closely with the site-specific clinical team (Clinical Oncologists, Cancer nurse specialist and other members of the MDT) to ensure prompt, integrated and excellent treatment for all patient receiving radiotherapy across all treatment modalities as part of their cancer treatment.
•    To work with the Clinical trials teams in the delivery of all Gynaecological research trials involving radiotherapy.
•    In collaboration with the Radiotherapy managers and Clinical Oncology consultants to develop skills and expertise which will allow expansion of the AdP role.
•    To use clinical knowledge to engage appropriate interventions, when necessary, along the treatment pathway.
•    To provide education and training to all Radiographers and other staff groups in the care and treatment of Gynaecological patients.
•    To support direct clinical delivery (treatment and planning) as may be required.
