We have an exciting opportunity in our Basingstoke Dialysis Unit for a dedicated, motivated senior nurse/manager looking to take their career to the next level or to make a change in their working environment and experience.


Basingstoke Dialysis Unit is a dynamic 24 station unit providing haemodialysis treatment for up to a capacity of 96 patients in partnership with the NHS Trust. The unit operates safe staffing with a protected 4:1 patient to nurse ratio.


As a Unit Manager, you will provide essential leadership to manage, develop and engage with the unit team, to optimise continuous quality improvement and clinical outcomes.

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Saturday. You will work a combination of clinical and admin (50% of each) over 5 days.

Your main responsibilities will be:


As the Unit Manager, you will hold direct responsibility for the local management, monitoring, compliance and reporting, within the B. Braun Quality Management System, ISO 9001: 2015 & Good Dialysis Practice.


You will lead and manage the team, demonstrating a positive & professional ‘can do’ approach. You will be responsible for managing the staff, the appraisal and staff performance management process and managing the recruitment and selection process for vacancies within the unit.


You will look at ways to maximise capacity by efficiently scheduling treatment sessions promoting full occupancy and minimising missed sessions.


You will be under the guidance and support of the UK Operations and Clinical Quality Managers. This is a large, busy unit with challenges as the local holding unit for patients awaiting placement in their primary unit close to home. Expert coaching and peer support from the management team will help the successful candidate embrace the challenge and be in a strong position to take the unit forward. 


What you’ll need to succeed:


  • Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Renal Course Certification
  • 5 years renal experience (minimum)
  • People Management experience
  • To demonstrate operational awareness and organisation of clinical resources
  • To demonstrate a basic financial knowledge in relation to healthcare and staffing resources

This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, Occupational Health Check, Negative Hepatitis B antigen status and Eligibility to work in the UK.
