The role


As a member of the UK Finance Management Team (FMT) provide leadership to and be responsible for the UK finance operations, including the treasury and credit control activities of Aspen’s Lloyd’s operations, Aspen’s London based insurance company (AIUK), and the other UK operating and holding companies in the Aspen corporate structure.



Responsible for delivering a high quality operations service to Aspen’s UK business activities and group functions, work with the FMT to design and deliver highly effective processes and controls for UK Finance, and have oversight of UK finance outsourced activities

Key accountabilities


  • Contributes to and supports the UK Chief Financial Officer with the

    Finance vision and strategy in relation to UK Operational activities

  • Responsible for UK Finance Operations strategic deliverables and

    provides tactical leadership and support to managers in the UK

  • Finance Operations team to achieve positive results for the business

    in line with Finance strategy

  • Drives performance through others facilitating effective planning,

    control and support mechanisms to ensure delivery of the Finance

    Operational requirements

  • Oversee the development and operation of efficient cash management

    processes and controls over bank account operations

  • Lead the design and implementation of enhanced processes for

    effective FX exposure management

  • Lead the design and implementation of enhanced processes for

    effective UK credit control

  • Maintenance of policies and procedures for credit control and

    treasury enabling the UK business to operate within risk appetite and

    to support audit of the in scope activities and financial position

  • Systems are implemented to enable efficient operational processes

    and maximize the value of outsourced operations

  • Ensure all UK policies and procedures operate in line with group

    requirements and strategies

  • Manage the Funds at Lloyd’s operational requirements

  • Provides strategic leadership, direction and support to team to ensure

    that people, resources and processes are aligned with business needs

    and fit for purpose

  • Promote excellence through the attraction, continual development

    and retention of a high quality workforce with the knowledge, skills

    and behaviours to deliver excellent outcomes and service.

  • Promote individual accountability through an ongoing performance

    management approach that aligns personal performance objectives

    with strategic goals

Skills & experience


  • Strong business process and control knowledge with an ability to use this knowledge to contribute to the UK finance strategy

  • Knowledge of operations in London Market insurance companies

  • Understanding of core treasury processes

  • Understanding of Lloyd’s regulatory environment an advantage

  • Understanding of process and controls required for effective credit control

  • Strong technical and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Team leader, good at motivating and coaching team members at all levels

  • Collaborative and team player with peers.

  • Bias for action, decisive with problem solving skills

  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with all Microsoft packages

  • Experience of working in the non-life insurance industry

  • Worked in an onshore and outsourced finance model with successful work experience with outsourced parties

  • Track record of delivery in a transformational culture

  • Experience in facilitating and encouraging teamwork and developing people

  • Ability to think strategically with the confidence to challenge and influence

  • Experience of defining and delivering against insurance operations KPIs
