Yard Operative

Yard Operative, Neway based within A&P Falmouth

We are looking for a Yard Operative who can primarily work on general yard cleaning, dock bottom cleaning in a dry dock rig, and de-rigging/rigging equipment.

An opportunity for someone who has experience working in a similar role in yard operations or a construction / industrial setting.

What do we do?

Neway, part of APCL Group work within A&P Falmouth on vessels of all sizes with a wide range of highly specialist methods of surface preparation and application of industrial coatings in the maritime sector.

So as Yard Operative, what will you do?

• Primarily general yard cleaning, dock bottom cleaning in a dry dock rig, and de-rigging / rigging equipment
• You'll be working in an outdoor industrial environment and its a hands-on role working with varied equipment and machinery, including MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms), scissor lifts, forklifts, bobcat, and telehandlers
• General Yard Cleaning and maintenance of the area to ensure safety and organisation with duties include sweeping, removing debris, and managing waste
• Dock Bottom Cleaning as part of a team in a dry dock before and after it is occupied and / or filled, ensuring pollution is does not escape in a safe and efficient operation
• De-rigging & Rigging equipment as required for dock operations
• Safely operating MEWP, scissor lifts (IPAF 3A, 3B), forklifts (up to 7 tons), bobcat (Skid Steer), and telehandlers to support yard operations
• Sticking firmly to all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all
• Carry out basic maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
  
  

And what are we looking for?

• Previous experience working in a similar role in yard operations or a construction / industrial setting would be great with the ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment safely
• MEWP Scissor Lift (IPAF 3A, 3B), Forklift (up to 7 tons), Bobcat, Telehandler training and certs would be good to have but can be trained
• Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks outdoors in all in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment wearing Safety gear, including helmets, gloves, and boots at all times is essential
