WORKSHOP FOREMAN

PAISLEY

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Foreman to join the fabrications team, a Galliford Try business.

• Fabrication and welding of steelwork from detailed fabrication drawings
• Fabrication of small to large assemblies
• Installation of secondary steelwork in accordance with drawings
• Checking components to ensure they meet the specifications of the drawing
• Self-inspection of work
• Use of MIG & MMA welding equipment, cutting equipment, saws, drilling machines and small hand tools to produce quality fabrications to required tolerances
• Identifying any problems or discrepancies along with potential alternative manufacturing methods and reporting to Fabrication Manager
• Lead the fabrication team ensuring all work is delivered safely, efficiently, compliantly in accordance with industry standards
• Plan daily schedules, supervise activities to meet project needs & resolve technical or logistical issues through communication with contract engineers & management.

About You:

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• M.A.G.S welding experience
• Previous work with Stainless an advantage but not necessary
• Must be able to work in a team and on own initiative
• Use of MIG welding equipment, cutting equipment, saws, drilling machines and small hand tools to produce quality fabrications to required tolerances
• Experience of lifting, turning, and moving heavy loads with overhead cranes
• You’ll need to be a Fabricator with extensive experience of mild steel structural steelwork
• City & Guilds parts 1, 2 & 3 preferred or equivalent
• NVQ Level 3 in fabrication & welding
• Abrasive Wheels
• Fork truck / Telehandler licence
