Job Title: Water Treatment Scientist
Salary: To £34,000 per annum (depending on experience) + standby allowance

South Staffs Water are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Water Treatment Scientist to join our team and support our commitment to water quality excellence. Reporting to the Water Treatment Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance and optimising treatment processes across our Cambridge Water Production sites.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Water Quality Regulations and company policies at treatment sites
- Analyse and interpret water quality and operational data (including SCADA) to optimise plant performance
- Investigate breaches of standards or poor performance and produce detailed reports
- Identify risks in treatment controls and propose effective mitigation strategies
- Provide expert advice on water treatment processes and support investment projects and operations
- Develop and maintain process documentation, policies, and procedures
- Support daily activities of the Water Quality department and represent the team in cross-departmental meetings
- Deliver specialist water quality training to operational staff
- Conduct reactive risk assessments as required
- Degree or HND in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Environmental Science, Microbiology)
- Experience in drinking water treatment, water quality, or a related field (preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong IT proficiency, including data analysis tools
- Full, valid UK driving licence
- Willingness to participate in an “out of hours” standby rota
