Job Description

As a warehouse operative, you are vital to the safe and efficient movement of our parcels in our depots. You are a crucial cog in ensuring that DPD provides a service that genuinely makes a difference to our customers. Your responsibilities will include:

• Unloading incoming deliveries from various vehicles, including lorries and vans
• Accurately scanning and logging all parcels into our computerised system
• Sorting parcels according to their destination and priority
• Loading outgoing vehicles efficiently and safely
• Operating warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (training provided)
• Maintaining a clean and organised work area to ensure safety and efficiency
• Adhering to all health and safety regulations and company policies
• Assisting in the training of new team members as required
• Participating in team meetings and contributing ideas for process improvements
  
  

As a warehouse operative, you will find that no two days are the same. Equipped with all the tools needed to do the job, you will be required to handle parcels of various sizes and weights, ensuring their journey through our network is safe and swift.

Some of the parcels you will be handling are large/heavy items, weighing up to 25kg. This is a physically demanding job, so you must be able to lift, load, and carry to perform your duties effectively.

Our depots operate 365 days a year, and as part of our warehouse team, you will be required to work shifts. Flexibility and adaptability are key attributes for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Flexibility and adaptability to work across various areas of the warehouse
• Ability to lift, load and carry items weighing up to 25kg
• Knowledge of Health and Safety practices within a warehouse environment would be advantageous
• Basic computer literacy for operating computerised systems
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively within a team
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Previous warehouse or logistics experience is beneficial but not essential
• Willingness to learn and operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and walk long distances during shifts
