An exciting opportunity has arisen within Elective Orthopaedics for the role of Ward Sister / Charge Nurse. The position is based at Leicester General Hospital, on ward 14.
We are looking for confident, motivated, enthusiastic, professional nurse leader, who is an experienced Adult Registered Nurse. Previous recent experience as sister or deputy sister in an in-patient surgical ward area is essential, ideally within orthopaedics. We seek an individual who is credible, reliable and has strong clinical & managerial skills; someone who will provide direction and inspirational leadership to the team.
You must be committed to ensuring high quality patient care is delivered; provide effective staff leadership; ensure staff are developed as necessary and be able to work with your team to create a great ward learning environment. Through your effective leadership, you must be able to ensure the ward team continually seeks means develop and improve patient experience; ensure an innovative service and excellent nursing care are provided, whilst working to further reduce the length of patient stay.
You will be responsible for ensuring the continuous management of the ward, and working with the matrons, multidisciplinary team, ward staff and other areas within the service and CMG and you should be adaptable and responsive to changes in service needs to ensure they are met.
Take 24 hour responsibility and accountability for the given area, visible, accessible and responsive to the needs of service users, patients, carers and the public.
Provide direction, effective and inspirational leadership to the nursing, admin., and multidisciplinary team (including ancillary and clinical staff) within the area for which they are accountable.
Be responsible for ensuring high standards of infection prevention and control are practiced at all times.
Act as an expert clinical practitioner providing through themselves and their team an excellent quality of care to patients and service users.
Act as a clinical and managerial role model within the department team, CMG and across the wider organisation.
Take responsibility for the provision of a supportive learning environment for all students on placement within the department for which they are responsible.
Practice clinically in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for a defined caseload. Be clinically based and practice clinically at least 50% of their working time
