Mission Home

Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Brighton
Contract type: Full time
Remote
Do you want to be a part of getting permanent, decent homes built for some of the 3,000 children and families suffering homelessness in Brighton and Hove? That’s what Mission HOME is fighting for.

What difference will you make?

Your videos will amplify Mission HOME’s fight to build homes for 3,000 homeless families in Brighton, spotlighting their struggles in mouldy housing. By creating compelling content, you’ll inspire action, pressure the Council, and drive systemic change, giving families a safe, stable future.

What are we looking for?

The Volunteer Videographer for Mission HOME needs videography and editing experience to create compelling content. They should be a self-starter with strong communication skills, highly organized, and creative in storytelling. Familiarity with social media platforms and a passion for social justice are key to spotlighting homelessness issues effectively.

What will you be doing?

I’m Scarlett Chapman, 14, and I started this because it breaks my heart to see families stuck in often cramped, awful temporary accommodation - sometimes for up to 15 years. I’ve been busking in the local area since I was 8, raising over £10,000 for local homelessness charities and helping spread awareness through regular press, TV, and radio coverage. We’re asking Brighton and Hove City Council to use their small, unused patches of land - microsites - to build council homes on. You could play a big role in this! Join our close-knit team of volunteers and help us convince the Council to free up land for homes, giving families a real shot at a better life. Check out my YouTube video (https //youtu.be/jXhxc-8D9TY) - then read on to see how you can pitch in! “I’ve met families living like this, and one mum, ‘Julie,’ told me they were given a place so bad they had to hoover mould off the bedroom walls. Her little girl kept getting lung infections - it shook me. That’s why we’re doing this.” – Scarlett Your Role Shoot and edit videos featuring Scarlett and homelessness themes. Partner with the Social Media Manager on shoot plans and locations. Deliver polished content for social platforms. Skills Needed Videography and editing experience. Self-starter with strong communication. Organised and creative. Support & Details Flexible role with team backing (online/in-person). Unpaid; expenses reimbursed. Use your own gear (special items borrowable).
