ECHO is an independent, Herefordshire-based charity with around 50 staff and 130 volunteers. We are currently seeking a Finance Trustee to join our Board as a potential Treasurer.

What difference will you make?

By providing strong leadership and working on our long-term strategy you help ensure that our charity is in the best possible position to fulfil our mission. As Treasurer, you will support our Chief Officer and Finance Officer in the vital role of creating and monitoring our financial strategy to ensure that the charity remains sustainable into the future. ECHO is currently going through a period of change and this is an exciting time to be involved in setting the direction for the charity as we look to the future. We have been accepted onto the Herefordshire Council commissioning framework and are in the process of buying a building to house several existing and new projects. Changes in the funding climate have brought some challenges, but we are looking to invest in the future, expanding our offer for younger participants as well as considering how we continue to meet the ongoing and emerging needs of our older participants. By becoming a Trustee for ECHO you would help ensure all this happens.

We feel that it is important that our Trustees should have A commitment to our organisation and its objectives A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as a Trustee Strategic vision Independent judgement An ability to think creatively A willingness to get to know our participants by visiting projects and attending fundraising events

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a finance professional with excellent financial management and analysis skills. You will provide financial oversight and assist the strategic development of a growing organisation. To become a Trustee of ECHO, you do not need to have experience in working with disabled people. The role presents a fantastic opportunity not only to share your knowledge and skills but also to learn from your fellow Trustees and take part in the various events that ECHO runs. As inclusion is in everything we do at ECHO, it is important to us to include our participants in every aspect of our charity and our Board is no different. We aim for a third of our Trustees to be people with disabilities, which makes our Board a very accessible and supportive environment for everyone.
