Home-Start Bedfordshire is a leading family support charity for parents and young children in Bedfordshire. We are seeking someone with financial experience to become our new Treasurer.

As a trustee, you’ll get the satisfaction of helping address some of the most pressing issues facing our community. As a small charity, your strategic role will make a big difference to us and you’ll be welcomed into a supportive, committed community of fellow trustees, staff, and volunteers, where you’ll be close to our work, and get regular feedback on the impact we achieve together.
What are we looking for?
Experience of managing finances or operating financial procedures. Be committed and honest and show a commitment to the charity and its objects. have a positive, non-judgemental attitude to working with people of any gender, family status or sexual identity, or who are from any ethnic origin, culture or religion, or who may have a disability. demonstrate a sensitive and caring attitude towards others have a clear understanding of the confidential nature of our service, and not break confidences, other than when disclosure is essential to protect the wellbeing or safety of a child be willing to devote time and effort, and be enthusiastic and reliable be able to work as a member of a team
What will you be doing?
The financial management of the charity is a shared responsibility of all the Trustees, but the Treasurer takes the lead responsibility for the ensuring that the other Trustees have the information and tools necessary to maintain a proper understanding of the charity’s finances,be able to understand and present financial information simply and clearly. The Treasurer will have experience of managing finances or operating financial procedures. Trustees meet formally six times a year. There is a chance to join other events such as strategy days, training and volunteer socials. We offer a thorough induction programme. While the Trustee role is voluntary, expenses will be reimbursed and additional support is provided to ensure all Trustees are able to fully participate in their role. As an organisation that works with families from a huge range of backgrounds and cultures, we welcome applications from all sections of our community.
