What difference will you make?

Working closely with staff and trustees, our new Treasurer will help the charity understand the details and the big picture of where we are at present financially, and help us plan for the future so that we can help more local people with sensory disabilities.

What are we looking for?

Vision North Somerset are looking for people who Have a willingness to accept the legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship and undertake induction and training as required. Have demonstrable experience in a relevant professional context, for example as specified below. Have a strong commitment to social justice. Can demonstrate tact and diplomacy, with the ability to listen and engage effectively while also demonstrating independent thought. We welcome applications from individuals whose skills/experience includes some of the following Finance, bookkeeping and/or accounting the charity requires a Treasurer or trustee to lead on Finance. You would work with the Chair, CEO and Finance Officer to oversee financial planning and management. Could you help provide financial oversight and support future business planning? Training in charity finance is available.

What will you be doing?

Vision North Somerset is looking for a Treasurer or Trustee with good financial skills to work with the board, CEO and Finance Officer. Experience with small businesses or a previous charity role would be ideal to understand the context. We're looking for someone who can provide advice where needed on the day-to-day running and also support with advice on longer-term planning and financial reporting. Vision North Somerset is an established charity of nearly 50 years, with a new strategy developed with stakeholders in 2023. Our small friendly trustee board would love to welcome someone with financial experience and a bit of time to give during working hours and our bi-monthly trustee meetings on Monday evenings. You don't need necessarily need professional training, just good business sense, financial management skills and willingness to learn about charity finance. Training in charity finance and the treasurer role is available.
