What are we looking for?
Skills & Experience Social Media Management Familiarity with Facebook and Instagram, including tools like Meta Business Suite or Creator Studio for planning and analysing posts. Content Creation Ability to write engaging captions and design visually appealing graphics using tools like Canva or Adobe Express. A natural storyteller who can adapt tone and style for different audiences. Campaign Planning Experience in developing and implementing content calendars, tracking engagement metrics, and evolving strategy based on performance. Digital Safeguarding & Accessibility Understanding how to communicate sensitively and inclusively—especially in youth work settings. Awareness of safeguarding guidelines and GDPR principles online. Collaborative Communication Comfortable liaising with staff and other volunteers to gather stories, images, and updates. Able to listen, refine ideas, and bring others’ contributions to life on screen. Personal Qualities Empathetic & Inclusive Passionate about youth empowerment and committed to making online spaces safe and welcoming for all. Able to reflect diverse voices and perspectives. Organised & Reliable Capable of working flexibly and consistently, keeping posts scheduled and timely. Appreciates clarity and structure, while allowing space for spontaneity. Proactive & Curious Keeps up with social media trends and enjoys trying new formats (e.g., reels, stories, infographics). Not afraid to ask questions or suggest creative approaches. What will you be doing?
We are looking for a volunteer Social Media Lead to help us bring 4Youth’s energy, mission, and stories to life online. You will take the reins of our social media activity, developing creative ways to showcase our youth programmes, community events, and milestones. Whether it’s designing vibrant graphics, posting real-time updates from club nights, or celebrating young people's voices, you’ll be pivotal in livening up our digital presence. This opportunity is perfect for someone who enjoys storytelling, visual communication, and creating impact through digital platforms. You’ll work closely with our Charity Director and Youth Workers, who will provide context, ideas, and club updates. You'll also be free to propose new content ideas that align with our safeguarding, inclusivity, and accessibility principles. The key deliverables for this role include A consistent content calendar showcasing club activities, youth voices, and upcoming events Creative assets such as graphics or templates for recurring campaigns Increased engagement and follower growth on key platforms (Facebook and Instagram and any other you'd suggest) Positive representation of young people’s achievements and the charity’s values While we’ve sketched a strong outline for the role, we’re flexible and open to your ideas. If you’d prefer to focus on one platform, support occasional campaigns, or help train other team members, we’d be happy to adapt the role to suit your availability and strengths. There’s room for experimentation, collaboration, and shaping how 4Youth communicates digitally as we grow. We welcome input on tone, trends, scheduling tools, and safeguarding approaches—especially from volunteers with lived experience in youth work or community engagement.
