Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for Volunteer Police Cadet Leaders to be part of our Volunteer Police Cadet Units in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Weston-Super-Mare.
Our cadet units offer young people (ages 13-17) the opportunity to learn about careers in policing, support their community, and develop valuable life skills like communication and problem-solving, all within a fun and safe environment.
Leaders will plan and lead activities during the weekly meetings held on :-

Your role as a Cadet Leader would be to:
Recruitment Process
Application:
Following shortlisting, successful candidates will be invited to in-person interview with assessment.
Don’t assume that we know anything about you! There is plenty of space so tell us about your knowledge, skills and experience from all areas of your life that relate to being a Volunteer Police Cadet Leader.
Our electronic recruitment system asks you to provide 5 years of employment history, please disregard this. As part of our Safer Recruitment procedures you must provide details of ALL employment/ education/ voluntary roles you have ever held and details about any gaps when you were not working/studying. The system will allow you to add as many roles as you need to.
Interview and assessment: we will ask you to deliver a 15 minute activity with a cadet group & then you will have an interview. Date to be confirmed.
References And Vetting
Avon and Somerset Police are committed to safeguarding and operate safer recruitment processes. This role requires that at least one of your references is able to comment on your interactions with children and/or young people in a personal, voluntary or employment capacity. Please ensure that you consider this when completing your application.
This role involves responsibility for young people that will require completion of an enhanced DBS and checking of the list of those barred from working with children.
To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 5 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.

- Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm during term time in South Gloucestershire at Patchway Police Centre, Gloucester Road, Bristol, BS34 6PY.
- Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm during term time in Central Bristol at Kenneth Steele House, Feeder Road, Bristol. BS2 OTQ.
- Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm during term time in Weston Super Mare at Weston College, Knightstone Road, Weston super Mare, BS23 2AL

Your role as a Cadet Leader would be to:
- Deliver fun weekly interactive sessions and be a positive role model
- Support cadets at community events, visits to police teams and at policing activities.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment where all cadets are welcomed and able to share any concerns.
- Planning and preparation for weekly sessions and other activities which sometimes take place at weekends.
- Full uniform including everything you need for outdoor activities in all weathers.
- Training and support to develop your skills and a unique insight into modern policing.
- An opportunity to build positive relationships with cadets and colleagues
- You must be 18 years of age or over to apply but have not been a Police Cadet within the last 6 months.
