Volunteer Experienced accountant to act as Treasurer for community charity | Kainé Management
KAINE MANAGEMENT LTD
Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Leicester
Contract type: Full time
Remote

Support a youth-focused Leicester charity by overseeing finances, helping ensure sustainability and strategic growth as our Treasurer and a key member of the Trustee board.
What difference will you make?
Your role as Treasurer is central to the charity’s future. By offering clear financial leadership, you’ll help us grow in a sustainable way - ensuring we can reach more people while remaining compliant and resilient. You’ll be instrumental in helping us shift from project-based funding to more consistent income streams, advising on reserves and financial planning that supports staff growth and long-term delivery. As someone who understands the power of strong financial stewardship, you’ll help ensure that Kainé’s creative, cultural, and educational programmes remain rooted in community but equipped for long-term impact. Your insight will directly influence the decisions that enable us to continue changing lives - especially for young people from marginalised backgrounds who rely on our services for personal growth and future opportunities.
What are we looking for?
Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent financial experience Knowledge of charity finance and reporting requirements Experience managing or advising on budgeting, forecasting, and reserves Confidence translating complex financial data for non-finance board members Understanding of risk management, compliance, and governance Strategic thinking with ability to support long-term financial planning Experience working with or overseeing internal finance teams or systems
What will you be doing?
Kainé Management is a community charity that has operated for over two decades in Leicester. Our focus areas are Arts, Community, and Education, and we deliver innovative, culturally responsive programming for young people, seniors, BAME students, and the wider community. We’re now looking for a new Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and oversee the charity’s financial health and strategy. You’ll be responsible for monitoring financial performance, working with our Co-Founders and finance support to ensure financial controls, and offering insight that helps us grow sustainably. You’ll attend trustee meetings and provide guidance on budgets, forecasts, financial risk, and compliance with Charity Commission standards. Your key deliverables will include ensuring financial reports are accurate and useful, advising on reserves and budgeting, and supporting us to plan for hiring staff and increasing income. You will collaborate closely with the Co-Founders, trustees, and an internal finance function. The role is flexible, with bi-monthly board meetings and scope to engage more (e.g., chairing a finance subcommittee or mentoring a junior finance volunteer).
