We are seeking a dynamic and committed individual to serve as the Chair of Trustees for 24th Basingstoke Scout Ground.

A robust governance structure builds trust and credibility, enhancing the Scout Group's reputation in the community. In board management, the Chair fosters a positive working environment among Trustees. This collaboration creates a culture of teamwork and accountability, leveraging the collective skills of the Board to drive the organization forward. Community engagement is a key focus, with the Chair serving as the face of the Scout Group. What are we looking for?

The ideal Chair of Trustees for Basingstoke West Scouts should have 1. Local Leadership Proven local leadership experience, ideally within Basingstoke or a similar community. Ability to provide strategic vision and guide the Board in achieving specific goals for Basingstoke West Scouts. 2. Governance and Legal Understanding Understanding of local governance principles and legal responsibilities for non-profits. Experience in ensuring compliance with relevant laws to safeguard Basingstoke West Scouts' integrity. 3. Effective Communication Excellent communication skills to convey the Scouts' mission and impact to local audiences. Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships within the Basingstoke community. 4. Community Engagement Passion for community engagement and youth development, specifically within Basingstoke. Experience in building strong relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and partners. 5. Fundraising and Financial Oversight Proven experience in local fundraising, identifying opportunities for Basingstoke West Scouts' financial sustainability. Ability to oversee budgets and make informed fiscal decisions for the Scouts. 6. Local Advocacy Effectively represent Basingstoke West Scouts at local events, advocating for the organization's interests. Strong networking skills to establish local partnerships and collaborations. 7. Team Building Ability to build and lead a cohesive Board of Trustees for Basingstoke West Scouts. A collaborative mindset to encourage teamwork and leverage diverse local skills. 8. Visionary Thinking Forward-thinking approach to address local challenges and opportunities. What will you be doing?

We are seeking a dynamic and committed individual to serve as the Chair of Trustees for 24th Basingstoke Scout Group. As a vital leadership role, the Chair will provide strategic direction, governance oversight, and support to ensure the continued success and growth of our Scout Group. The District Trustee Board plays a vital role in the running of a Scout Group. Trustee Boards make decisions and carry out administrative tasks to ensure that the best quality Scouting can be delivered to young people in the Group. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring alignment with the Scouts mission and objectives. Governance Oversight Oversee the governance and compliance functions of the District, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. Board Management Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among Trustees, fostering a positive and productive working relationship. Community Engagement Act as an ambassador for the Group building and maintaining strong relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and partners. Fundraising and Resource Development Work closely with the Board to identify and secure funding opportunities to support the financial sustainability of the Scout Group. Advocacy and Representation Represent the Scout Group at relevant events, conferences, and meetings, advocating for the organization's interests and promoting its positive impact.
