We’re seeking passionate, values-driven individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help guide the strategic direction of Body Politic Dance.

Essential

  • Strategic thinking and sound judgment.
  • Willingness to actively participate in meetings and charity life.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion Candidates must also be able to show that they share Body Politic’s commitment to diversity, equality and sustainability.
  • Candidates must be over the age of 18 to apply.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas arts & culture, safeguarding, HR, finance, fundraising, or education.
  • Understanding of the challenges facing underrepresented communities.
  • Previous board or governance experience (not essential). What will you be doing?

As a trustee of Body Politic, you will contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the charity, ensuring it achieves its mission while remaining financially stable and legally compliant. You will work alongside fellow trustees and the executive team to oversee the charity’s operations, champion its values, and support its continued growth and impact. Key responsibilities Governance & Oversight

  • Ensure the charity complies with its governing document, charity law, and other relevant legislation.
  • Oversee and support the effective delivery of the charity’s vision and mission.
  • Safeguard the charity’s assets and ensure proper financial control and risk management. Strategic Leadership
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of strategic plans.
  • Offer insight and guidance on key decisions, policies, and programmes.
  • Act as an ambassador for Body Politic, enhancing its public profile and networks. Support & Advocacy
  • Provide advice and guidance in your area of expertise (e.g., finance, fundraising, HR, legal, youth work, arts management).
  • Support fundraising efforts and stakeholder engagement where appropriate.
  • Attend performances, events, and community engagements to represent the charity.
