Those currently eligible on the redeployment register will be given prior consideration.
The main purpose of the role is to provide appropriate support to victims and witnesses of offences which are subject of a court hearing.
Main Responsibilities
To act as a point of contact for victim and witnesses from charge through to sentencing, providing the appropriate level of information in a timely manner in line with existing requirements
To provide an enhanced level of care and service from entry of a not guilty plea, in line with the Victims Code and based on the individuals
To ensure the relevant needs and risk assessment is completed and that any findings are understood by relevant partner agencies
To liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service and Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service as necessary to ensure victim and witness attendance at court
To provide the victim and witness details of the appropriate third party support available (including Victim Support)
When directed, to provide assistance to specialist Local Policing and Protective Services units that support victims and witnesses
To maintain the relevant information on IT systems, complying with requirements and data protection principles
To provide updates and outcomes to victims and witnesses in a timely manner through use of available channels
To continually review and offer suggestions for the improvement of the service offered by the existing team, using new and innovative working practices
To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required
Knowledge
Educated to A level or equivalent qualification
Experience
Experience of working within a customer care environment
Key Skills
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to build appropriate relationships and provide support, to individuals dealing with emotional/traumatic issues.
Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to impart critical information and support a third party through remote means (telephone, digital and/or online)
Ability to work under pressure and to manage and prioritise workload.
Good telephone/Digital Communication skills.
Competent in use of IT, including Windows packages or equivalent
Special Conditions
Working hours between 0700 and 1700hrs within the Flexi- time scheme with a requirement to work outside of core office hours (0800-1600) on a rota as required.
Exposure to distressing material
