Date: 1 day ago
City: Swinton
Contract type: Full time

About the role

As a UX Manager, you will take a leading role in shaping the vision, strategy, and execution of user experience across our product portfolio. You’ll oversee the creation of intuitive, accessible, and engaging experiences that integrate AI responsibly and effectively, ensuring design is a key driver of our business growth and innovation.

Partnering with Product, Engineering, and Data Science leadership, you will embed the voice of the user at every stage of the lifecycle—from research and discovery to delivery, optimisation, and scale. You will balance hands-on design with team leadership, providing direction, mentoring, and fostering a culture of design excellence.

This is a pivotal management role, accountable for advancing the UX maturity of our SaaS HR and Payroll solutions. You will influence product direction, champion user-led design, and harness AI-enabled insights to deliver experiences that increase adoption, satisfaction, and measurable commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the UX strategy, ensuring design principles and user-centred thinking guide product vision and roadmaps.
  • Lead and mentor UX designers, setting clear priorities, nurturing talent, and establishing standards for excellence across research, design, and delivery.
  • Oversee discovery and research programmes, ensuring deep understanding of user needs through qualitative, quantitative, and AI-powered analytics.
  • Translate insights into design strategies, user journeys, and solutions that align with business objectives, customer outcomes, and opportunities for intelligent automation.
  • Partner with senior Product, Engineering, and Data Science leaders to shape AI-driven features that balance innovation, usability, and ethical considerations.
  • Champion accessibility, inclusion, and transparency in all aspects of user experience, with a particular focus on emerging AI interactions.
  • Ensure rigorous validation of design decisions through usability testing, data analysis, and predictive user modelling.
  • Own the evolution of the design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and adaptability across AI-enabled and traditional product experiences.
  • Represent UX in cross-functional forums, influencing strategic decisions and contributing to go-to-market initiatives by ensuring cohesive end-to-end user experiences.
  • Stay at the forefront of UX, AI, and interaction design practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.

Who will you be?

  • A customer-centric design leader with deep empathy, able to translate complex challenges into simple, elegant, and scalable user experiences.
  • A persuasive communicator who can influence at senior levels, clearly articulating design rationale and the strategic value of AI-enhanced experiences to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experienced in leading teams within fast-paced, agile environments, fostering strong collaboration across Product, Engineering, and Data Science.
  • Highly proficient in modern design and prototyping tools, with a track record of leveraging AI-driven design platforms (e.g. Figma AI, Uizard, Galileo, or similar) to accelerate innovation.
  • Confident in using data, research, and AI-generated insights to guide, validate, and continuously optimise design decisions.
  • Able to showcase a strong portfolio of end-to-end design leadership, ideally demonstrating the impact of AI-powered, data-driven, or workflow-automation experiences.

Skills & experience

  • 6+ years in UX or Product Design, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or management capacity—preferably within B2B SaaS.
  • Proven success in shaping design strategies for complex platforms, ideally with AI-powered features or enterprise workflow automation.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior Product, Engineering, and AI/ML leaders to deliver user-centred solutions at scale.
  • Strong expertise in usability, accessibility, ethical AI design, and responsive design principles, with the ability to embed these standards organisation-wide.
  • Familiarity with HR and/or Payroll software is advantageous, but not essential.
