Turbine Blade Polisher

This position is accountable for blending welded and machined parts to an acceptable functional profile and to relevant quality documents / drawings, and to a high visual / cosmetic standard.

Job Responsibilities

• Blending of inlay materials, raised welds, erosion and other surface imperfections on Steam Turbine or Gas Compressor blades, either as loose individual items or as part of a fixed rotating assembly;
• Follows all work routings / procedures and complete quality documentation and as required;
• General workshop maintenance and daily housekeeping;
• Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned to aid overall workshop function and flow of jobs through workshop.
  
  

Required Skills / Knowledge

• Ability to use specified fixed linishing tools, or hand tools to achieve desired results;
• Be familiar with, and work to relevant manual handling / lifting procedures
• Work from written or verbal work instructions;
• Commitment to Quality documents and the updating of work packs;
• Ability to use basic measuring & inspection equipment;
• Ability to work under minimum supervision;
• Ability to multi-task with a strong attention to detail
• NDT experience preferred but not essential
• Forklift driver training preferred but not essential
  
  

Experience

• Experienced Polisher of Steam Turbine and / or Gas Compressor blades
  
  

Education Requirements

• N/A - Experienced Polisher
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Sufficient physical ability to work in a workshop and site environment.
• Good attendance record
• Willingness to work overtime as required
