City: Coventry
Contract type: Full time

Whether it's delivering water that is always good to drink, reducing waste in our processes with energy efficient technologies or improving visibility of the network, our 150+ strong team of innovators are working day in day out to make it happen. If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

We’re looking for a Treatment Process Engineer Manager to join our Asset Planning team at our Finham office in Coventry.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our Treatment Process Engineering Manager will lead a team of internal and consultant Process Engineers. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the most suitable process decisions are made throughout the programme, specifically for non-infrastructure assets in water, waste, and sludge treatment. This includes overseeing the commissioning of related projects and ensuring alignment with water quality and operational goals.

In this role you’ll guide the team to select optimal processes from project inception to completion, supporting the supply chain and design teams with technical expertise, and contributing to project commissioning. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring that process decisions are cost-effective over the asset’s life cycle, producing key documentation such as Process Design and Options Reports. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards and knowledge sharing through updates to design manuals and the development of technical papers.

Collaboration with key stakeholders is key to evaluate process options and associated risks, helping to prioritise investment decisions in alignment with the annual business plan.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Provide expert process engineering input to deliver optimal solutions for non-infrastructure capital projects, incorporating lessons learned from previous work.
  • Prepare high-quality process design and options reports to support informed project decision-making.
  • Support project commissioning by offering process expertise, ensuring compliance with required outputs, and contributing to commissioning plan development.
  • Deliver technical advice and oversight during commissioning, producing process commissioning plans and completing documentation for operational handover.
  • Promote continuous improvement and technical development through active engagement in Communities of Practice and external learning opportunities.
  • Manage resources effectively, ensuring a safe working environment and coordinating contractors and suppliers with appropriate support.
  • Assess process options with consideration for risk, whole-life cost, and carbon impact to support sustainable investment decisions.
  • Contribute to the evolution of design standards and recommend research and development initiatives to drive innovation.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

You’ll need strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to individuals with varying levels of understanding. This includes using verbal, written, and visual methods to convey information effectively. You’ll also have experience in analysing data, identifying root causes of complex issues, developing practical solutions, and presenting findings through well-structured technical reports.

In addition, the role requires proven stakeholder management and influencing skills across all levels of an organisation. You’ll be capable of driving the adoption of new tools, techniques, and technologies, ensuring that changes are embedded and sustained. A solid technical understanding of at least one water or waste treatment discipline is essential, along with knowledge of its components, associated risks, and benefits.
