Therapeutic Wellbeing Practitioner

HC-One

Date: 11 hours ago
City: Glasgow
Contract type: Full time
About The Role

HC-One Scotland is developing a Specialist Dementia Care Community (SDCC) at Darnley Court care home. Carmichael Unit has provided care for people living with dementia for many years but following considerable investment in environmental layout and design, workforce and L&D we have exciting new opportunities available for those passionate about supporting people who are emotionally distressed by their dementia and require a specialist service to ensure their needs can be met appropriately.

Carmichael SDCC will become a therapeutic care setting that demonstrates that quality of care and quality of life are of equal significance. It will provide a bespoke living environment embracing space and calming de-escalation rooms, along with enhanced staffing and specialist training for Colleagues in positive approaches to behaviour, psychosocial therapies, de-escalation interventions and safe restrictive practices. The therapeutic ambition will be that people will be understood as having needs to be met, rather than being defined by their condition.

Being a Therapeutic Wellbeing Practitioner is an extremely rewarding role. Having spent time getting to know Residents and their relatives, Wellbeing Practitioners support residents to live their day, in their way. This can mean skills and tailored activities programmes focused on stimulating the body, mind and soul, but also supporting the personalisation of Residents’ rooms to create a ‘room as your home’, helping to promote relationships and friendships, maintaining and stimulating interests and skills, and enabling residents to have meaningful moments of conversation and fun. Promoting Resident wellbeing at HC-One Scotland. We know each of our Residents need to be valued and enjoy lifestyles that are meaningful to them.

Your organisational skills and driven mind-set mean you always get things done and make things happen. Meanwhile, your enthusiasm and creativity will inspire Colleagues to get involved in the wellbeing of residents by helping to give them the life they want, as well as the care they need.

HC-One Scotland are looking for someone with a background in working with vulnerable individuals, ideally developing activity programmes. Knowledge and experience of dementia care and wellbeing, and the value of meaningful occupation and social interaction. Beyond that, it’s all about your brilliant, positive energy and natural ability to get along with people, and, whenever you communicate with a Resident or co-worker, you’ll be truly considerate and kind.
