The Digital Services business unit is at the heart of UCAS’ technical innovation, data and infrastructure. It focuses on leveraging data science, technology, and enterprise architecture to enhance UCAS' digital products and services.
The unit is dedicated to developing and improving customer-centric digital solutions, ensuring seamless and secure online experiences for all users. By providing insightful data and analysis, often made available to anyone with free-to-use intuitive dashboard, Digital Services empowers the Higher Education sector and those interested in the sector with valuable information to make informed decisions. By working in collaborative, expert led, multi-disciplinary teams, Digital Services drives UCAS’ mission to connect students with their next opportunities through advanced technological solutions.

About The Role
The Technology Delivery Manager is a senior leadership role within the UCAS Product Engineering team. You will be accountable for the overall technical aspects of all change Delivery.
Through the adoption and implementation of multiple software delivery techniques, you will engage and enthuse software development teams while maintaining their line of sight to our customers’ needs and how they can best deliver value to them at pace.

About The Role
The Technology Delivery Manager is a senior leadership role within the UCAS Product Engineering team. You will be accountable for the overall technical aspects of all change Delivery.
Through the adoption and implementation of multiple software delivery techniques, you will engage and enthuse software development teams while maintaining their line of sight to our customers’ needs and how they can best deliver value to them at pace.
Key accountabilities:
- Accountable for overseeing all technology delivery within UCAS, including agile and project managed deliverables
- Line and performance management of a team of Product Owners, Technical Project Managers and Agile Delivery Managers
- Ultimate custodian of the product backlogs, although this will be delegated through a team of Product Owners
- Owns the creation and ongoing improvements of UCAS technology change processes that balance consistency of approach, pace of delivery whilst minimizing the risk of change to existing services
- Accountable for creating and maintaining our technology delivery metrics dashboard, with a focus on continually improving our key delivery metrics
- Work with Product Management to understand the digital product pipeline and its demands on people capacity and skills.
Skills, Qualifications, And Experience
- Significant previous experience of leading and managing a technology delivery function across a diverse portfolio of software products and services in a matrix managed, agile organization (including leading managers)
- Must have previous experience of managing multiple delivery teams across a wider portfolio of change
- Extensive demonstrable experience in setting technology delivery vision and direction, and implementing new cross functional capabilities within a software product business, with previous experience of driving change across senior communities across an organisation
- Significant experience of working within an environment that adopts multiple delivery methodologies (agile, waterfall, kanban etc.)
- Previous experience of working with 3rd party suppliers and partners
- Extensive experience of creation and implementation of technology delivery metrics and dashboards, and demonstrable evidence of using to drive continuous improvement
- Previous experience of working as part of a technology leadership team in a Technology Delivery capacity
- Broad technology background in senior Tech Delivery engineering roles, with previous experience possibly coming from Scrum Master, RTE and Tech Programme Management roles
- Previous experience of deputising for a head of development or similar
- Significant demonstrable experience in a SAFe and PRINCE2 environment, ideally recently qualified/certified.
Salary – up to £75,000
