Technical Operations Manager (WordPress)
Insight Consultancy Leicester

Insight Consultancy is looking for a full-time Technical Operations Manager to take charge of the day-to-day operations, primarily in our design & development department. You’ll be the key link between the team and our clients, making sure work is allocated efficiently, deadlines are met, and quality is maintained.
This is a management role that would be suitable for anyone with 2 to 3 years of experience in a creative setting, whether that be an agency, in-house team, or similar.
You’ll manage a small in-house team and a number of external contractors, which includes designers, developers, and marketers. You will be responsible for overseeing a range of work, including ongoing website maintenance, new client change requests and new website builds.
The role will be hybrid, with some requirement to work from our Leicester office 1-3 days a week.
Strategic responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all work within the development team from start to finish, ensuring projects are properly allocated, deadlines are met, and clients are happy with the outcome.
- Ensure work is assigned to the right team members based on skills, workload, and deadlines.
- Based on client briefs, fully scope out work and produce technical or visual briefs for the design and development team
- Develop an in-depth understanding of your client’s business and their stakeholders, and use this knowledge to guide the team on best approaches
- Identify opportunities to add value for clients and recommend additional services where relevant.
- Quantity control and testing to ensure deliverables meet a high technical and creative standard.
- Ensure adherence to company processes, maintaining consistency and accountability across the team, in addition to keeping documentation up to date
- Track and enforce service-level agreements to ensure timely resolution of maintenance tickets, bug fixes, and ad-hoc requests
- Ensure new team members are effectively onboarded and trained in our processes while reinforcing best practices with the existing team
- Keep the team aligned with company goals, ensuring they feel valued, heard, and invested in the work they’re delivering
Required skills and qualities
- Leadership experience, ideally managing a technical team such as developers and designers.
- Proven track record of getting things done—someone who takes ownership, drives projects forward, and ensures work is completed efficiently.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to negotiate, manage conflict, and gain buy-in from both clients and the team.
- Strong technical knowledge of both web development and design, with the ability to manage and challenge developers.
- Experience working with WordPress CMS, with a solid understanding of its capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
- Ability to think laterally—extracting real value from client conversations, identifying opportunities, and translating vague requests into actionable solutions.
- Excellent note-taking skills, with the ability to document processes, meetings, and key actions clearly.
- Proven ability to manage workflows, time allocations, and client communication, ensuring projects stay on track and meet expectations.
