An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Fellow within Acute Medicine to join our friendly, enthusiastic Emergency Department team at UHDB, based at the RDH site.

This post is a fixed-term, 12 month post and are an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a teaching post. Any candidate who wishes to work less than full time will be considered and supported, taking into account service needs.

  • Maintaining the highest clinical standards in the management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Expected to prioritise and time-manage effectively according to the activity of the department and to utilise appropriately the available senior staff for advice.
  • Participation in the 24 hour Emergency Department rota.
  • Encouraged to complete work based place assessments for their own development.
  • Participation in ED specific teaching, training and support depending on career aspirations.
  • Taking the role of Team Leader in the management of patients with major injury or illness within the department.
  • Supervision of Junior Medical Staff and Emergency Nurse Practitioners including clinical work, time keeping and documentation.
  • Teaching of Junior Medical Staff, Medical Students and Emergency Nurse Practitioners in the clinical setting.
  • Assist to maintain the flow of patients through the department.
  • Be responsible for the management of the Emergency inpatients (Ward 101).
  • Undertake other responsibilities by mutual agreement with the Consultants as part of continuing professional development and clinical governance.
  • Opportunity to participate in Audit.
  • Designated Educational Supervisor for the duration of the post.
