A large school with over 200 staff and 1,700 students is seeking a Teaching Assistant to work within the Special Educational Needs Department, supporting the effective operation of the SEND provision on a day:to:day basis in the school.
This opportunity is specifically aimed at recent graduates who are considering a career in teaching. The school are founder members of the Gloucestershire Initial Teacher Education Partnership (GITEP) who are one of the few training institutions rated by OFSTED as "Outstanding". If appointed, they would provide tailored support to help with your application to GITEP and as you take the next step in your career. Although starting with us would not imply a firm commitment to train as a teacher, the appointment would be a fixed contract which will give you the opportunity to decide whether you would like to make teaching your career.
You will be working 30.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time + 1:week).
Graduates in Maths, English or Science would be desirable, although other subjects specialists would be considered.
As Teaching Assistant, Your Responsibilities Will Include
: Working as part of the Special Educational Needs Department, supporting the effective operation of the SEND provision on a day:to:day basis in school.
: Acting as a positive role model embodying the school's values of Purposeful, Proud, Respectful, Curious, Supportive and Ambitious.
: Ensuring the school and departmental vision is actively implemented (along with all relevant school policies and procedures) working with the SEND Lead Practitioner
: Establishing a safe and stimulating environment for students, rooted in mutual respect
: Having clear rules and routines for behaviour in the classrooms, and taking responsibility for promoting good and courteous behaviour both in and around the School, in accordance with the School's Behaviour policy
: Treating students with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to your professional position
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has the following:
: Excellent literacy and numeracy skills (minimum of grade cat GCSE or equivalent) in both English Language and Maths
: Experience of working within an educational setting
: Experience of work within specific areas of SEND
: Ability to self:evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
: Shows a personal commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and rights of young people.
: Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
: Adaption of ICT equipment to specific student needs
: Working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes.
