Our office in Manchester is looking for a professional tax candidate to join their established tax team. We are considering different levels and qualifications.
A mixed tax role, you will be producing advisory work for a varied portfolio of owner managed businesses and supporting the Partners.
We are looking for individuals with initiative to develop their careers and provide a first-class service to our clients in both compliance and advisory areas.
Brief description of the role:
You will be an ambitious and experienced tax professional with a proven track record in a similar role. You will be comfortable and confident in building strong and trusted relationships with clients and colleagues, using your professional outlook and commercial awareness to manage the provision of taxation services to our business clients, where we aim for excellence in client service at all times.
You will work closely with Partners and colleagues, advising growth clients and their key individuals across the corporate and personal platforms, together with holding responsibility for managing the associated compliance work. There will also be ample opportunity to provide higher level advisory on project work including M&A, R&D tax credits, share schemes and trusts and estates.

Key responsibilities of a Tax Senior / Assistant Manager will include:
- Review and support to the compliance team responsible for the preparation of personal tax returns for a range of clients
- Review and support relating to corporation tax returns prepared by the accounts department
- Managing a varied portfolio including planning and advisory projects
- Preparation/Review of capital gains tax computations for inclusion within self-assessment returns, together with completion of 60-Day CGT Declarations to HMRC
- Preparing/Reviewing ERS and EMI returns
- Review of forms P11D & P11D(b) and PSA calculations
- Ad hoc work relating to capital tax reporting, inheritance tax and Estate work
- Liaising directly with HMRC in relation to enquiries and investigations
- Supporting and mentoring the more junior members of the team.
- Ensure that all performance, industry and regulatory standards are met or exceeded
- Build strong and trusted client relationships, and manage expectations accordingly
- Take an active part in marketing and business development with both new and existing clients including supporting with campaigns and pitches
- Identify and mitigate any obvious risks to either the Business or the Business’ clients
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- ideally ATT/CTA or similar qualification or qualified by experience
- significant experience in tax in a practice environment
- excellent knowledge of personal and corporate tax platforms
- commercial and analytical skills to produce team performance reporting (from in-house software) and management of fees charged to clients to meet agreed fee targets
- effective time management, organisation and communication skills
- excellent attention to detail
- able to work under pressure to deadlines
- experience of delivering taxation training and mentoring more junior colleagues
- it proficient (ideally with Microsoft packages and Taxcalc – full training will though be provided)
