Position Summary 

This position’s focus is systems engineering and associated test & evaluation, with technical and process support to wider engineering Files and change activity across Metrea . 

Role and Responsibilities

Working to the relevant Technical Director the role will have responsibilities in the following areas: 

Requirements analysis and System Design

  • Provision of requirements analysis on assigned projects  
  • Provision of requirements management on assigned projects  
  • Production of sub system requirement specifications  
  • Production of internal functional and non-functional requirements to enable detailed design 
  • Production of top-level design and documentation on assigned projects  
  • Production of design documentation for Design Reviews  
  • Ensuring that solutions are ready to enter design reviews (PDR and CDR)  
  • Communicating system designs to the Capability Lead 

Product Owner (when delegated)

  • Provision of product owner input into review boards  
  • Ensuring solutions are ready for review with SE work finalised including but not limited to PDR, CDR, FAT and SAT  
  • Ensuring SE tasks are correctly booked and managed in support of the File Manager  
  • Supporting the product and/or software lead and test manager with acceptance criteria for each product line requirement  
  • Managing the acceptance of the solution internally in EM&C and externally to the customer  
  • Ensuring product roadmaps are produced and maintained. 

Technical Governance and Management of engineering delivery

  • Acting as technical lead and release authority when delegated 
  • Reporting SE time allocated to business growth  
  • Reporting integrated system metrics and production of KPIs  
  • Management and supervision of technical teams 
  • Mentoring of junior engineers  

Technical support to Capture activity and Bidding

  • Coordination with Solutions over customer requirements to ensure customer input is reflected in product roadmaps  
  • Technical solution production at the bid stage 
  • Technical solutions detailed in work and product breakdown structures at bid stage  
  • Support Solutions with estimation/pricing at bid stage.  
  • Production of engineering management plans  
  • Production of sub-contractors SOR / SOW (as required) to support solution delivery   
  • Production of use cases that support bid storyboards  
  • Identify appropriate tools and processes that support delivery and reduce engineering overhead  

Skills And Experience

Essential :  

  • Systems Engineering,   
  • Requirements management  
  • Operational experience in the employment of tactical data links; 
  • Experience in the operational and developmental test and evaluation of integrated systems; 
  • Familiarity with NATO Tactical Data Link doctrine; 
  • Familiarity with associated TDL documentation; 
  • RAF GD Aerosystems or Army BTC qualified 
  • Desirable :  
  • Familiarity with sUAS and Counter-UAS systems and associated TTPs 
  • UK Qualified sUAS pilot  
  • Experience of common testing tools and analysis techniques; 
  • Qualified Systems Engineer or demonstrate equivalent experience;   
  • Trials Management Course;  
  • Experience of military environments (including exercises) 
  • Working with and managing sub-contractors.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work (please verify the below information)

This is a full-time non-exempt position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.
