About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Working within a small team to build and support complex server, database and cloud infrastructures in both green and brown field environments, following design documentation and industry best practices.

  • Collaborating with colleagues to quickly and efficiently expedite the resolution of any issues encountered, doing so in a logical and methodical manner.

  • Work pro-actively in the management and monitoring of customer environments to prevent issues and outages happening in the first place.

  • Flexibility in your approach to work and be a team player, where everyone pitches in to get the job done.

  • Dealing professionally with customers directly.

About you

  • Strong Linux skills (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu/Debian)

  • Familiarity with Microsoft platforms and be comfortable working on both platforms.

  • Knowledge and experience of databases such as MySQL, MS SQL, PSQL and Oracle is beneficial.

  • You should be competent with TCP/IP networking and able to perform initial analysis and troubleshooting of networking issues before handing off to dedicated network engineers.

  • Experience in supporting multiple tier architectures is useful as we have a wide of range of platforms to support. Knowledge of web hosting platforms such as Apache/IIS/nginx/Tomcat will be very useful.

  • Experience with firewall rules and troubleshooting issues.

  • You should have experience of scripting tools such as shell scripts, Powershell, Ruby, Bash & Python.

  • You should be familiar with virtualisation platforms, high availability solutions, containerisation, and load balancing, such as VMWare, clustering, VTMs, HAProxy, Docker.

  • You should have experience of using software configuration management tools, preferably Puppet.

  • You should be comfortable working with version control systems, such as Git.

  • Experience in supporting hardware such as servers and SAN/NAS devices would be a benefit.

  • Skills in public, private and hybrid clouds would be very useful as we have a diverse infrastructure to support.
